Zhang Captures Championship in 2022 Hofer Ping Pong Tournament
After a nine year absence from the Basement, Jason Zhang showed his table skills had not diminished and swept through Class AA to capture top honors in the 49th Hofer Ping-Pong Tournament held over New Years weekend. 50 players participated in five classes over the two day tournament.
Zhang beat Dave Anttila in the AA finals to capture his 13th title. David Hofer finished third and Tony Hofer fourth in the top class.
Class A honors went to newcomer Adam Baumen who bested Keefer Connery in the finals. After losing a five set nailbiter in the semis, Jason Hofer finished 3rd and Mike Reiswitz took fourth place honors.
In a battle between Hofer husbands, Brian Robertson took home the first place trophy beating Cody Parkovich. Third place went to Jordan Rasner and fourth place went to Cooper Conway.
The Class CC title took 10 sets before Tom Collins put away Derek Reiswitz for the crown. Carson Collins took third and Hunter Mans rounded out the class with a fourth place finish.
And demonstrating and we don’t get older we get better Sam Hofer came out of the losers bracket to take the Legacy class over Randy Verkerke. Fred Hofer Jr. was third and John Hofer fourth.
